Residential home pitches in

Residents of a Chippenham care home were so moved by the plight of people stranded in Gloucestershire they have launched an appeal for bottled water for shipment to Cheltenham racecourse - to be given to those in need.

Bottled water can be handed in to Fairfoot in Old Hardenhuish Lane, Chippenham.

Staff will then arrange delivery to a depot at Cheltenham Racecourse, where supplies are being co-ordinated.

Gloucestershire County Council has launched an urgent appeal for portable toilets for hundreds of rescuers and stranded families, call (01452) 753350.
